**Join Our Team as an Experienced Special Education Assistant!**
We’re excited to offer a meaningful opportunity for an experienced and compassionate Special Education One-on-One Aide to join our team at Taos Day School in Taos, NM. This is a full-time, in-person contract position providing direct support to a high-needs student in a K-8th grade educational environment operated by the Bureau of Indian Education.

Here’s what you need to know:
- Taos day School located on the Taos Pueblo Indian Reservation
- Special Education One-on-One Aide (SPED 1:1) – Taos Day School
- Up to a 10- month contract with extension options
- Full-time hours, Monday through Friday,
- Hours 7:30am to 4:00pm
- Follows Taos Day School academic calendar, including staff development days

- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or coursework toward a degree, in education or a related field preferred
- Previous Special Education experience preferred

What You’ll Do:
- Provide one-on-one support to a student with a disability in both academic and daily living tasks
- Assist with transitions, personal care (toileting, eating, dressing), and classroom integration
- Support individualized instruction under the direction of the Special Education teacher
- Implement behavior management strategies and classroom support systems
- Monitor and document IEP goals, student progress, and activities
- Participate in staff meetings, IEP meetings, school events, and mandatory trainings
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for the student throughout the school day
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with federal privacy regulations
- Support the educational mission of Taos Day School through collaboration with educators, families, and school leadership
- Participate in tribal community events and complete required onboarding and training.

Indian Preference Exercised:

Requirements
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or coursework toward a degree, in education or a related field preferred
- At least one (1) year of experience working with children with disabilities in an educational, service agency, or recreational setting
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid state driver’s license
- Must be able to pass a federal background check
- Ability to assist with lifting, mobility, and personal care
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, dependability, and a commitment to student success
